The coolest thing about camp is that it gives you the ability to communicate with others and make new friends—and we all have things in common. We learn that we don’t have to be in different groups just because of who we are. It’s all about being one.
At Camp Phoenix, I learned that I was more than just a girl. I can do so much more than I didn’t know I could do. Now, I’m more comfortable with using my voice and speaking up for what’s right.
Because of camp, I’ve learned that there is more to nature than just being outside. When you’re in the great outdoors, you can find peace and it’s fun. That’s what all kids from Oakland should have.
